Candidates differ on local government’s priorities

The two candidates vying for Idaho Falls City Council Seat 6 couldn't be farther apart when it comes to setting priorities for city government.
For incumbent Karen Cornwell, prudent priorities mean maintaining and improving residents' quality of life through the city's parks, zoo and greenbelt.

Idaho Falls Mayor Jared Fuhriman isn't taking his re-election bid lightly.
Of the six candidates in contested city races, Fuhriman has raised and spent the most campaign cash, bought spaces on billboards throughout town and established a comprehensive Web site.
Fuhriman said he's "not taking anything for granted" even though he's facing an opponent with little name recognition and a nonexistent war chest.

Barbara Ehardt, who's running against incumbent Karen Cornwell, wasted no time in attempting to draw a distinct difference between herself and Cornwell, saying the two women "couldn't be further apart" politically.
